CCC v's Wellow

Cropwell Cricket Club v's Wellow Cricket Club.

Today's write up is done by special guest Master Felix Boon.............

I went to watch grandad play cricket today, to my surprise he was playing for the other team. Wellow Cricket Club had arrived with only nine players, being a fair minded captain, Neil asked them if they wanted grandad to play for them and they said yes.

After a while the Wellow captain asked grandad if he wanted to bowl.... He caught and bowled Mr Dulwich and had the Captain caught in the covers. With grandad's help, Wellow bowled CCC all out for only 74 runs.

Cropwell replied well with the ball, taking wickets at regular intervals Simon and Gareth bowling fantastically well, getting CCC back into the game, Kingy and Greg continued where the opening bowlers had left off. Just after the drinks break at 21 overs they took the 8th wicket for 65 runs, meaning grandad had to go into bat against his own team needing nine runs for him and Wellow to win. With 1's and 2's being scored at a reasonable rate it wasn't long before grandad was facing Greg needing 1 to draw and 2 to win. Greg came in bowled and grandad

It doesn't matter if grandad got the runs or if Greg got the wicket, it was a great game of cricket enjoyed by everyone

My hero.
